SNPA INSPECTIONS OF WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITIES

SNPA (Sistema Nazionale per la Protezione dell’Ambiente – National System for Environmental Protection) presented the “Technical Report on the results of the supervision and control activities carried out by SNPA from 2019 to 2022 at waste management plants pursuant to Article 206-bis of Legislative Decree 152/06”.

The report shows the results of the supervision and control activities carried out at waste management plants under the three-year agreement, signed between ISPRA and the Regional and Provincial Environmental Agencies (ARPA/APPA) in July 2019.

A total of 1,104 inspections were conducted, in particular on recovery facilities under simplified procedures, on those that treat end-of-life vehicles, electrical and electronic equipment, and the organic fraction, and finally on those that carry out recovery activities aimed at ending waste status (end-of-waste).

The main violations highlighted concerned the incorrect management/compilation of the loading/unloading register or MUDs, the exceeding of waste storage quantities, and the management/storage of waste in unauthorised areas.
