REGIONE LAZIO “APPROVAL OF GUIDELINES FOR THE NEW WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN”

The Lazio Regional Council approved the guidelines for the new waste management plan, amending Regional Resolution No. 4 of 5 August 2020

The guidelines for updating and revising the Regional Waste Management Plan include:

  • the definition of strategies aimed at fully implementing the principles of the circular economy, promoting reward systems for the most virtuous public and private entities.
  • the definition of a single tariff for the final delivery of residual urban waste on the regional territory.
  • increasing the quantity and quality of separate waste collection.
  • guaranteeing a plant endowment with high management and technological quality standards, which contributes substantially to the achievement of climate neutrality objectives.
  • encourage the use of separate collection at home (door-to-door) by local authorities and deposit systems for glass and plastic (returnable packaging), with incentives for local authorities, businesses and citizens.
  • prioritize public management of waste treatment and disposal plants as part of the ‘zero waste’ strategy.
  • encourage the construction of composting plants also through the simplification of authorisation procedures and introduce economic incentives for the construction of home composting plants.
  • promote the rationalisation and digitalisation of procedures for issuing authorisations for the construction of plants.

develop, with the support of Arpa and the provinces, a systematic planning of environmental controls on waste management facilities.
