2^nd MatER Meeting 

“Trends and Innovations in Waste Management”

On May 21^sh – 22^nd the 2^nd MatER Meeting took place at the Piacenza Campus of the Politecnico di Milano over “Trends and Innovation in Waste Management”.

The biannual MatER Meeeting conference aims at offering the opportunity of an update on Sustainable Waste Management to scholars, researchers, administrators, operators and students dealing with waste prevention and management in universities, state agencies, public administrations or commercial companies. Scientists, technology developers, researchers, plant operators and administrators engaged in waste prevention or material/energy recovery from waste will illustrate the latest trends and innovation now pursued in waste management.

The two-day meeting also aims at fostering a fruitful dialogue among universities, institutions and companies operating in waste treatment and management. All this in the MatER perspective of an environmentally-friendly, resource-efficient, sustainable recovery.

The event has been organized with the scientific support of DICA (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) and Energy Department of the Politecnico di Milano.

The meeting starts with an introductory session on:

Evolution and trends in waste management

and continues with four sessions, each opened by an international keynote-speaker, on the following topics:

1) Waste prevention and material recovery
2) Environmental aspects
3) Energy recovery
4) Economic aspects
