NEW NATIONAL ELECTRONIC WASTE TRACEABILITY REGISTER

The decree for the implementation of the new National Electronic Register for Waste Traceability (DM 59/2023 – RENTRi) has been published in the Official Gazette. The new platform establishes the rules for its operation and will have the task of collecting and making available in digital format the data on waste generated and managed by subjects obliged to register. In addition to ensuring waste control activities, the new system aims to make data, services and information available to businesses and the public sector to promote the circular economy and material recovery.
The main objective is to introduce a digital management model for the following fulfilments
– issuing of transport identification forms
– keeping of loading and unloading chronological registers.
In addition, it will be divided into two sections
– register of members, which also collects environmental authorisations;
– traceability, which collects the data recorded in the registers and forms.
RENTRi is managed by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) with the technical-operational support of the National Register of Environmental Managers and the Chambers of Commerce system for the management of the central information system.
Obligated parties will be able to join the Register within a timeframe of 18 to 30 months, depending on the size of the companies.
