THE PARTNERS, THE ENERGY OF MATER
The collaboration between companies, universities and research centers is one of the founding elements behind the MatER project. Partners’ trust is the most valuable source of energy that feeds our daily activities.
Politecnico di Milano is the largest technical university in Italy and the oldest in Milan, founded in 1863. Over the years it has become a polytechnic institute for its offer of study courses and research activities in the fields of engineering, architecture and industrial design. It has always focused on the innovation of teaching and the quality of scientific investigation, developing a fruitful relationship with the productive reality through a technological and experimental transfer, with a strong gaze at the same time towards internationalisation.
The LEAP (Laboratory Energia & Ambiente Piacenza) is a consortium society participated by the Politecnico di Milano, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and other institutions and companies. LEAP is one of the two research centres that manages the Tecnopolo in Piacenza and is part of the High Technology Network of Emilia-Romagna. Operating in the energy-environmental sector, carries out research projects, provides advice and services, carries out technology transfer actions both for industry and for public bodies. In addition, LEAP carries out experimental activities and tests on plants, organises training courses and initiatives for scientific dissemination.
Utilitalia is the Federation that brings together companies operating in the public services of Water, Environment, Electricity and Gas, representing them at the national and European institutions. It was born from the merger of Federutility (energy and water services) and Federambiente (environmental services). It offers assistance, updating and training services, as well as consultancy activities on contractual, regulatory, management, tribunal and legal aspects.
A2A is the first Italian multi-utility in the production and distribution of energy. Established on 1 January 2008 from the merger between AEM Milano and ASM Brescia, with the contribution of Amsa and Ecodeco, A2A now operates with 12,000 people in 5 sectors: generation and trading, commercial, environment, heat and networks. It is also a leading group in environmental services and district heating.
Brianza Energia Ambiente, founded in 1964, is today a joint stock company owned by the Province of Monza and Brianza and by 11 municipalities of the same. It aims to optimize the recovery of material and energy from waste, contributing to a lower consumption of natural resources and a more sustainable development of the area in which it operates.
Founded in 1909 as a company serving the city of Rome, over time Acea has grown to become one of the reference multi-utility companies on the Italian scene. Acea Ambiente is present in the Waste Management sector and in particular operates in the waste disposal and energy valorisation sector (waste to energy), in line with the latest European trends in circular economy policies.
Rea Dalmine is the Greenthesis Group company that manages the waste-to-energy plant in the province of Bergamo. Thanks to its qualifying points, Rea Dalmine is considered a reference plant for waste-to-energy on the national and European scene.
Rea Dalmine is spread over an area of 45,500 square meters which includes the electrical substation and a green area intended to complete the harmonious integration of the plant into the territory.
Tecnopolo di Piacenza is the local reference point for research and innovation initiatives supporting the industrial sector and the other economic operators. As part of its mission, it provides patronage to the MatER Study Center, supporting the development of studies focused on sustainable waste management, promotion of best practices, technology transfer activities, and planning of initiatives and public events on topics coerent with the S3 strategy of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
